Deep Tissue Massage.

Slower, firmer work through the back, neck and shoulders. Firm is not the same as painful — and our therapists know the difference.

About This Treatment

Deep tissue is the treatment to book when a specific area will not let go — the band across the shoulders after months at a desk, the lower back that tightens by Thursday, the neck that clicks when you turn your head. Rather than covering the whole body evenly, your therapist spends the hour where it is needed.

The technique is slow. Real depth comes from working patiently into tissue rather than pressing hard, and a good therapist will spend two minutes on a single spot without hurrying. You may be asked to breathe into an area, or to move an arm so a muscle can be reached at a better angle.

Benefits

  • Releases persistent tightness — particularly across the upper back and shoulders.
  • Improves range of movement — turning, reaching and looking up often feel easier afterwards.
  • Relieves desk-related tension — the most common reason guests book it.
  • Supports recovery after training — booked a day or two after a hard session, not immediately.

Massage is a wellbeing treatment and not a substitute for medical care. If you have an injury, a diagnosed condition or persistent pain, please see a doctor or physiotherapist first — we are glad to work alongside them.

What to Expect

Your therapist will ask where the trouble is, what makes it worse, and how firm you would like the work. Pressure is calibrated in the first five minutes and checked again as the session goes on. It should feel like a strong, satisfying stretch — never sharp, and never something you have to brace against.

If you find yourself holding your breath, say so. Adjusting pressure is not a failure; it is the treatment working properly.

Treatment Process

  1. 01 · Consultation (5 min)
Where it hurts, what you do all day, and what you want to be able to do afterwards.
  2. 02 · Warming (10 min)
Broader, lighter strokes to prepare the tissue. Going straight to depth does not work.
  3. 03 · Focused work (30 min)
Slow, sustained pressure into the areas identified, with regular check-ins.
  4. 04 · Integration (10 min)
Flowing strokes to settle everything down and finish the session properly.
  5. 05 · Rest (5 min)
Time on the table, then water and as long as you like in the lounge.

Who Is It For?

Well suited to desk workers, drivers, parents carrying small children, and anyone who trains regularly. It is also a good second visit if you found Swedish massage pleasant but not quite enough.

We would recommend something gentler if you bruise easily, are in the first trimester of pregnancy, are taking blood thinners, or are recovering from a recent injury or surgery. Tell us at booking and we will suggest a better fit.

Aftercare

  • Drink water generously for the rest of the day.
  • Keep gently moving — a short walk beats sitting still for four hours.
  • A warm bath or shower that evening helps.
  • Expect mild tenderness for a day; it passes like post-exercise soreness.
  • Leave a full day before heavy training.
Questions

Before You Book

No. It should feel firm, and sometimes intense, but never sharp or unbearable. If you are holding your breath or bracing, the pressure is too much — say so and it will be adjusted immediately. Enduring it does not make the treatment more effective.

Mild tenderness for a day, similar to after exercise, is common and settles on its own. Sharp or lasting pain is not expected — please call us if that happens so we can adjust the approach next time.

For a specific area, every two to three weeks initially, then monthly to maintain. Your therapist will tell you honestly when you no longer need to come as often.

Yes, at step three of the booking flow. Joseph and Hana are our firmest hands; Sophia works deep but with a lighter finish. Choosing “No Preference” usually opens up more available times.
